I'm doing well in blowing the background in my new studio, but am looking to blow the immediate shadows out too, by the feet, etc:

Thing is I've looked at continuous lighting kits and they all seem to have flourescent tubes, and I'm using flash....so I think I'm getting the wrong end of the stick, I know I could set the WB with a grey card but would the other option be a softbox overhead on a boom?
