In between trying to troubleshoot a new external hard drive I collected a new 16-35 f/2.8L yesterday. To get a duck with it I think it would need to be about 6 inches from the lens, so either very tame or stuffed!

Wide angle shooting is a whole new new ball game for me. I tend to see the world in tele lens terms. so this will be a giant learning curve.

I have spent months agonising over which wide angle to go for. Eventually the choice narrowed to either the 14mm prime or the zoom. I currently use a 30D, but plan to look very seriously at the 1Ds4 when it materializes, so the possible FF issue and extra flexibility of the zoom swayed me, right or wrong.

Two things strike me immediately. First this lens has nowhere near the same amount of movement on the 30D mount, even compared to my other weather sealed lens the 24-70L. Second, the hood is also a really tight fit.

I'm with you on the "looking at the world in tele lens terms". Shooting UWA has definitely required a different mind set.
