I know this is Canon forum, but I came across these stunning photos of Annapurna, all shot with a Panasonic Lumix.

I have heard very good things about the camera, but haven't given it many thoughts, since I use Canon. But many adventure travelers love this model, because it's compact and sturdy.

Not looking to buy the camera, I mostly wanted to share the photos.

Honestly I didn't think they were very good. Full of noise and not very sharp. I don't think an XSi is much bigger than the Lumix and would give better results.

You might be right, I didn't look closely at the quality of the photos.
It's the subject that got me, the compositions are nice and I love the light. I didn't look closely for noise etc.

Still loving them though.

I went back and spent more time looking at them and have decided I was far too harsh. My little G9 would be awful in the same circumstances. After reading the authors narration, I still don't know wehy people climb mountains!

Lovely pictures. That lumix did a good job, the man who carried it all the way there an even job!

Thanks for the link folks.

It's true — you'd get much better results with a bigger sensor. But honestly, when I went up there with the tiny GF1 I never expected to get results even this good.

The last image is pretty noisy, mainly because the moonlight was shooting directly into the lens. All the others, pointed away from the moon, are remarkably clean. I did very little post-processing (mainly just pushing and pulling levels a bit) in Lightroom.

The photos looks good, some of them with some noise but very good for that camera. I think that isn't very comparable with an EOS from Canon.

Hey Craig and welcome to our Canon world. :)
I should probably have left some comments on your site, but I forgot about it and ended up posting the link here instead.
But everybody here are true lovers of photography and will most likely enjoy the photos and story.
