I recently lucked out on a Sunpak 120J TTL version with parabolic reflector and the CA-3D module for Canon cameras. My intention is to use it for off-camera work but I'm curious to know if it can be safely mounted on the hotshoe a modern digital camera like a 1D Mark III or 5D II. Is there any risk of frying the electronics of the cameras?

Thanks.

I'm a 120J owner but I use mine exclusively off camera. I've never even thought about putting it on my camera but I would be curious to know the answer to the question.

Robert, I assume you have the TTL version too. You're not willing to volunteer?

I do have the TTL version but I've never checked documentation or taken the time to find out if it's a safe thing and I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm sure a Google search with the question would give the answer. :D

I wouldn't try it as the trigger voltage has been measured between 10.9 and 11.6 volts (though not by me).
