What ISO are you shooting at? I can see that you tried to use flash, but doesn't really help in these situations especially since it looks like you are using direct flash. You can really tell on the last picture with the light not spread evenly, harsh shadows and dark background. And if you used flash on me like that while I was playing basketball and blinding me for a split second while I was going to the net, I wouldn't be happy, lol. The 70-200 f4L is a great lens, but not sure how much an f4 will help you in these conditions though, other than getting closer to the action. For dark conditions like these I would use at least a 2.8 or even an 85mm f1.8. Especially since you have an XS and can't pump up the ISO that high without too much noise. Good try though. Just go out there and learn from your experience. 1. Know I'm not going to get pro level photos from my kit lens, this is to show what I was able to achieve with one of the lowest end lenses out there. ...screw listing gear,it just sets up preconceived notions...but if you must link

The last picture isn't suppose to look good AT ALL, just funny faces 3. ISO 400 for all 4. I know for indoor photos that the 70-200 f2.8L is a must and f4 isn't going to cut it, but it would be better than the f5.6 that I was shooting on most of those. 5. I really tried to use the flash right after they would pass or shoot as to not mess their game. are you a sigma nu? 6D w/ BG-13, 40D w/ BG-E2N, Canon 50mm f/1.8ii, Canon 24-70 f/2.8L USM, Canon 430 EXii
