I've upgraded to an XSi and I've been trying to sell my XT on craigslist. I'm including the kit lens (non IS), 2 batteries, charger, 1 GB card, card reader, and neck strap. I've got the CD's somewhere but I can't find them right now. The one problem is that the built in flash doesn't pop up on its own, you have to raise it by hand. You can hear it trying to pop up but it gets stuck and an error message appears. I think it's Error 05. You can feel that it's not as smooth as it should be and that's why it's getting stuck. Would this be an easy fix or even worth it? I never looked into it b/c I hardly ever used the flash. The flash itself works fine. Everything else on the camera works fine. It's about 5 years old with 4,000 clicks.

I listed it at $300 knowing that I wouldn't get that, but I said price is negotiable. Most offers have been $200 and 1 as low as $140. Is it worth $200? I was hoping to get $250 for it but it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen.

I think the market is telling you what it's worth.

There are a lot on ebay for 250-350 but many of those come with a lens or two and presumably are issue free. 200 does not seem that far off, sorry

I think you should get at least $250 for it. Sell it on e-bay Craigslist is not the best sometimes.

Just keep it or give it to one your your close ones. $200 is like giving it away. It's still a capable camera.

Honestly, don't bother with eBay for $250, because after the fees and shipping, plus your time, you'll still only net about $220 or so.

I think you can get $250 on craigslist. State your price is firm in the ad, and tell lowballers to shove it. Plus, make buyers come to you. Nothing worse than driving 30 minutes and getting lowballed at the sale.

Patience is the key with craigslist. It took me nearly 2 weeks to sell my 70-300mm IS for $440, which was a very fair price. I didn't need the money, so I waited for a reasonable buyer. I put up a very descriptive ad with good, high-resolution photos of the lens just as I would on the POTN sale board. If the buyer sees you're not an idiot and can put a quality ad together, they know you're not going to waste their time with misrepresented goods.

Most potential buyers will be turned off if there's a defect and think it should be discounted further.

You may want to get an estimate to repair that. It could increase the re-sale value for a small repair fee.

Well, Canon's minimum repair cost will be like $150, so not worth it.

Just the body (perfectly working) should sell for $250, if you're patient. You're including a kit lens and other accessories, I think your price is very reasonable. You'll get $250, just wait it out.

Just ebay it and be done. You can try dealing with weirdos from craigslist for another 2 -4 weeks or it can be gone in a week, guaranteed.

I bought one from B&H last year for $250 and it was in pretty good shape. I tend to agree with the others, put it on eBay and it should get 250ish. I've found CL to be a waste of time around here.

what I meant was that you should get $250 in your pocket after fee.

You might want to search around for info on how to fix the pop-up flash. I've seen some rather simple repair instructions posted somewhere. Anyway, I think $250 to $300 is your top price considering that the XTi goes for about $300-350. You could sell the lens separately, but you'll only get about $50 for it.
