I was wondering if any of you guys have been to the annual eagle watch at Lake Billy Chinook in Oregon. The event is coming up, and it would be good if someone would share any experiences of photographing eagles at this place.

They will be very active soon, and you won't have to go to an event to see one if you get out and scout the nests now while they are very visible. 5D, 10D, G10, the required 100 macro, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8, 300 f2.8)

Feb 04, 2010 13:40 | #3 Thanks for the tip! Most of the lakes in Central Oregon, where I live, are frozen or covered by snow. I figured my best bet to see eagles would be at one of the events that we have around here. I guess I will start checking this area more closely. Sony A7r

Run down to Klamath Falls this weekend, it is an birding festival, the name escapes me at the moment. But Canon will be there sharing gear, lot's of seminars, tours and etc. or just head out to the refuges in both OR & CA.

Feb 05, 2010 10:38 | #6 Thanks, folks. Terry, that is very useful information. While I have my 400mm F5.6 that I wanted to try, I may even consider renting F2.8, or 600 F4. It sounds like Klamath Falls is going to be a busy place next weekend. Sony A7r

Feb 06, 2010 13:01 | #8 Thanks a lot, Terry! And, those eagle shots on your flickr site are excellent. This is exactly what I was hoping to get. It looks like a very nice place to watch eagles. Sony A7r

The other weekend I spotted a couple while driving highway 30 out by the old trojan plant and I wasn't even really trying. But if you're looking for a lot of them concentrated in one area you can't beat the wildlife refuges south of k-falls.
