i was looking at B&H and saw that they advertise that things are either canon usa or imported stock.
i was wondering if anyone knows where the imported stock may come from and if there's a difference in the iq?
ie, is it better to purchase canon usa stock for the slightly extra money?

i'm not from the us, so it doesn't matter about warranty issues...

the difference is where the warrenty lies.. you buy canon USA at bh because you need that warrenty or you buy imported because you dont..

The Canon equipment B&H advertises as "USA" is imported through Canon USA and is backed by a Canon USA warranty. The "imported" or "gray market" equipment is not imported through Canon USA and the warranty will not be recognized by the Canon USA service centers.

Other than that, the equipment is the same and is manufacturer in the same location.

I'm not sure it's been clearly stated in the above posts. The lenses are identical...same manufacturing location, same glass, same everything. The only difference is where the warranty is backed. In other words, the imported lenses will not be covered by the USA warranty and the warranty is shorter or non-existent. The imported lenses will always be a few dollars less and, in my opinion, not worth the difference.
