24-70 is such a great range
2.8 Is a nice and fast aperture
IS is also helpful

what would you say is the best lens available right now? The 17-55 IS perhaps?

I shoot 24-70mm f/2.8 on 5DII and it's a great range.

In my opinion, for me to shoot w/ shoulder mount to get a super steady shot, I would shoot 7D w/ 17-55mm IS f/2.8. The lens is on the list for me but for now, I'll stick w/ 5DII and 24-70mm f/2.8 shoulder-mount.

If they came out with an IS version, I would sell my non-IS version. The IS would be nice without having to go to a shoulder rig.

Would probably go up in price $800 like the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II did

It would be a nice lens for video and a nice range.
