Cabin fever was setting in as the weather has been cold, dark, and rainy for several days. I spotted a flock of not-your-average-backyard-songbirds, so I jumped at the opportunity to get out of the house for a few minutes even though it was still raining. There were about a dozen of these great egrets at the pond about a hundred yards behind the house.

(edit: the non-web version did not look so oversharpened -- I need to give it some more work)

Very nice, I sure wish I had a backyard like yours. :)
I live in the wrong place for birding.

Thanks, Brad. The sun is out and the sky is blue again so I am feeling less cabin fever. ;)

Thanks, Crimzon. Maybe you could try a different kind of bird food in your feeder. :D

It is nice, I just wait for the birds to come to me. We get hawks, kites, various herons and egrets here in addition to songbirds, gulls, ducks, geese, cormorants, and coots. I am still waiting for a flock of whooping cranes to show up. :D
