Nice shots Ben!

#6 is beautiful, I could see that as a 24x36 gallery wrap.

thanks, that's the sole HDR in the group, I need to work on a better edit of it to hide the ghosted leaves in the treeds, but with the backlit tree it's about the only option. I'm going to try to exposure blend/mask it as well though, I'm just not that good at it yet. GNDs didn't work well with that setup.

Ben. those are amazing shots. I always wanted a bit wider than the 24-70. 14-24 is nice but I want to use filters. and besides. the commander in chief is keeping an eye on the budget. I thought of nikon 16-35 but those sigma shots are really great.
do you have any vignetting at 12mm?
what about filters. any problem with it? fit/vignette

thanx

if you stop down there's no vignetting issues, but the filters are the same PITA as the 14-24mm, you have to DIY:

OK, I got my 14-24 back from Nikon.
Says typical stuff like adjusted AF, checked and cleaned, etc. Nothing major was noted.

It's definitely better than before, but I still see some issues at 14mm, specifically when using the outer AF points. Again not nearly as bad as before, but it's still seems to be back focusing when I am using the outer AF points. Same deal on both my D3 and D700, so what are the chances that it's the cameras?

At 24mm I think the lens is performing close to max potential, regardless of which AF point used.

So I guess I am now wondering if this is just a limitation at 14mm with this lens and the less accurate outer AF points on the D3/D700. All my lenses are somewhat softer when using the outer AF points. This is not to say it's soft. For instance, my 70-200VRII is sharp enough all around, but when pixel peeping I can definitely see that things are sharper when using the center AF point. On the 14-24 this seems to be accentuated to a point where it's pretty obvious even at regular viewing sizes at 14mm.

Going to shoot with the lens over the weekend, then decide whether I want to return it again...:(
