WOW....buy 2 and sell one in NZ

Could do, but plenty of people do it already, it's not worth the bother for me.

with all the d700 talk, im randomly wonder..is anyone still rocking the d50? it seems to be by far the best entry level dslr nikon has made..over the never d40 and so on..

hmmm expensive indeed... here

if I get it throught the authorized Distributor it would roughly be $2,700+$1,900= $4,600.

but if I get it gray market = $3,750.00 with 1 year service warranty coverage.. the good thing is Nikon Philippines will repair gray units, the bad news is at double the cost. :D

why is it double, just cuz its from another country? weird!

I'm heading over to Nikon! Wedding photographer for about 6 years, tired of inconsistent focus issues with Canon bodies. I'm going to do the switch gradually. Ordered a D700, 24-70, and a 50 1.4G for starters. I'm going to probably pick up a D3s after a few months, as well as an 85 1.4 and 70-200. I'll probably be frequenting this thread ;) Gear will be arriving this week.

Well, after shooting a 5D, and trying a D700 for about a week; my personal conclusion is that the D700 blows the AF of the 5D II out of the water when it comes to moving subjects, and the outer focus points. Maybe I should have mentioned that I am going completely full frame.

Next, to rent the D3s

Oh you can't compare 5D/5D II AF to D700's. It's like day and night.

Yeah Rebel AF sucks ... only 7D that I can trust (other than 1D series).

That's correct..don't buy gray version unless you want to send it to third party service center.

I don't trust my 7D either, even after sending everything to Canon for calibration more than once. When I got my 24-105 it was horribly out of calibration, everything shot near 24mm was just awful. After calibration it's as good as my other lenses... which is to say if I take 5 photos of a static subject, on a tripod, between one and four will be in focus and sharp.
