I'm not fond of the nikon live view. You can't meter at all with it. It's so blasted irritating. (at least, if you can meter with it, I can't figure it out). I like how you can access it right from the body but I hate having to meter separately. (I shoot in M)

oh and I have a grip for my D700 too. I only use it for when I'm shooting action. Otherwise I keep it off. It's great though.

I still don't really see myself having a need for live view.

At times I've really, really wished Canon wouldn't either.

Would be nice to have people choose a lens based on focal length, aperture and IQ instead of a red ring.

exactly, how many times have we all had to hear this one:

which lens should I buy for my *insert canon cropper here*? The 16-35L or the 17-40L or....

L lenses are great, but I just can't stand people who buy them ONLY because they're Ls and refuse to even try anything "less"...

I really can't wait. I've waited longer then I should have to upgrade. I have a bridal session on April 9th, wedding on April 17th and my D200 is having focus issues and needs to be sent off to be fixed.

D3X is better at low iso right? I'd prefer to have the higher ISO abilities (D3s) if anything. I don't need 23mp or whatever it is.

D700 is the lowest level I'll get.

Just noticed Apex. I'll be up in Raleigh the first weekend of next month visiting the ex. I like that area.

I guess if you don't need the megapixels it's not a big deal. I wouldn't say the D3x is better in lowlight, but the D3/D3s is. The D700 would definitely be the better choice. :)

Yeah. I don't know where Tryon is but, I've heard of it. :)

Yup, and you can zoom in at any level to any position in the frame. Just like reviewing a shot. I believe on the Canon LV system you have only two zoom options? something like 2x and 10x? It's been ages so I don't remember exactly. Correct me if I'm wrong. :p

Live View on the Canons are 5X and 10X. :)

liveview is great for landscaping, especially with a 10-stop. But Nikons implementation SUCKS. Has anyone figured out how to get DOF preview to work in it? What about making it take a damn picture when I press the shutter? Maybe I just don't realize it is, but it feels like it's bringing the mirror down then back up before it shoots each time. It should just shoot IMHO.

Live view is actually good for manual focusing and macro work. :)
