If you have a dedicated macro lens, it's much quicker, the IQ is better, plus (depending on focal length) it will double as a good portrait lens. Cheaply ya, but man - for the price of a macro tube set I can sell ya my MF vivtar 95 f2.5 .... Plus, see above. Maybe it works for ya, maybe not?We had a play day at my house with a bunch of POTN people here locally. Set up a model studio in one room, and a macro table in the kitchen. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Not busy at all actually, and I was the second for this one. oh ok it is the same wedding as those you posted a few days ago... yeap nice message indeed and nice shot also nicksan wrote in post #10581198 Given the choice between the Nikon 50 G and the Sigma, I would take the Sigma over the Nikon any day of the week. When I was shooting Canon, I had the 50L, and while it was fabulous when it nailed focus, that was precisely its problem. Very, very inconsistent. The Sigma has excellent bokeh qualities. AF is at least on par with the 50L and the Nikon G. As for AF accuracies, I have not noticed any glaring issues with my copy. YMMV, of course. Also remember, I immediately sent mine in just because I felt it was the default course of action to take with the Sigma lenses. They did a firmware upgrade on it for the D3/D700 and calibrated it. As far as I am concerned, it's a keeper. re: calibration...my local dealer told me to send the lens together with the camera... did you send in yours with the camera?

Nope, just the lens. I should say that it wasn't really off to begin with but my attitude towards the Sigma 50 was that I should just send it in anyways. So I did, and they ended up doing to firmware upgrade and re-calibrate the lens.

Locally they won't accept returns, but they will fix anything that's not right.
