well, ok I thought since most of you here are caucasians, you were referring to 5'8" or something as short hehe

As it happens I am 5'8" ...I referred to myself as "undertall" (see Garfield) because my weight suggests I should actually be 6' or more.

Good Morning/Good Evening guys

well, if you compare the 70-200 with your 200+d3 set up I am sure it will feel lighter

yes, thank you Ms. Permie. as much as I can, I usually use around 12mm... it has that certain look that uhhmm I don't on my other lenses. (the wideness maybe?) haha

even with 3rd party flashes? how do you set the limit before the iso bumps up? I did not notice it in the auto ISO menu

hahahaha...

I haven't noticed this on the D700, however they are indeed aparent on my f/2.2-2.8 shots. sometimes though I can't help but use that aperture due to badlighting.

Maximum ISO? The upper limit you set for regular auto ISO applies to auto ISO with flash as well.

hmmmm.... I like it. I will try to sell my current flash and just buy some third party e-ttl flash either Nissin Di622 or Di866. I can't justify the SB-900:cry:

Hmm...don't have a "poking" problem with my SB-900. Maybe I've got a weird shaped forehead or something.

IMO, it's built similarly to the 580EXII, but the sealing and all that isn't as elegant. It's definitely a more comprehensive flash unit though. Just remember to turn off the over heat sensor.

why the hell does it poke you in the forehead?

whats the GN number of the SB-600?

I am considering the Nissin Di866 for my next flash... I don't think any of you have any experience with this.but here is a comprehensive review.

Yep I agree, except it's built ok, just different from the 580 II. It is louder, it pokes you really badly in the forehead, I had to read the manual and i'm still not 100% sure I understand it all. I know how to put both the camera and flash in full manual though, that's my fallback position!

I don't know what GN number is. Or if I do, it's not connecting.

GN = Guide number, flash output power? in real life situation/events is the Sb-600 enough Ms. Permie?

I only want to spend around $200++max on a flash..so the SB-900 is out of the question. I only use it occasionally, I use my tripod more than my flash :)

I hadn't a clue
30m/98ft. (at ISO 100 and 35mm zoom-head position) to 42m/138ft. (at ISO 200 and 35mm zoom-head position), at 20°C/68°F

I had two and just sold one. I figure that the sb800/600 work just fine in tandem. Plus I've got an sb400 for fun stuff too.

One of the 600's was always on one of my cameras at a wedding. What I mostly noticed was that it didn't recycle as fast as the 800. Otherwise I never noticed much difference. The 800 has a commander mode and is a bit more powerful. But so does the camera so that doesn't make much difference. Both work like troupers.
