This is running it against a server in NYC.
This is just really sad. I was downloading something just now and I couldn't surf the web while it was downloading. That's friggin' slow man.

where are you in NYC? aren't you near the downtown area? I thought NYC always gets the latest and greatest  so why is FIOS not yet available in your area?

I live across the East River in one of the nicest neighborhood in Queens County. It's typical that nicer neighborhoods get things LAST. Makes sense right? You would figure the city would take care of these neighborhoods being that they are few and far between in Queens county (Queens is mostly pretty crappy) but nah. We get new buses last. We get new or renovated schools last. Everything...last. I guess they feel we can afford to wait. I have no idea why FIOS isn't in my neighborhood. NO IDEA. It makes no sense. Unless it's a political thing between them and the Cable company.

I'll let the technician come, which I know will result in nothing. Then I'll give it another week for them to get their act together. I already filed a complained with the city. The problem is, I am on a 2 year contract with them and have one year left. If they can't fix it, I am going to try to wiggle out of it since they can't provide me with the service they claim they can provide. Then I will switch to DSL. It's only 3Mbps, but it's sure better than 1.5Mbps. Then I'll switch to FIOS once they come to my neighborhood and say bye bye to Time Warner.

I can't believe how much you pay for such terrible service. Wow. I pay a fraction of that (not to make you feel any worse already, lol).

yours is bigger then mine and steven's combined :(

I'll keep that comment relevant and say that when you say it like that then I guess mine isn't so bad. :)
Like I said though, it fluctuates but not as badly as Nick's...for the most part. It's often terrible though when the weather sucks.

Yeah. Crazy. $200+ for Cable TV and Internet. Granted I get ALL channels. Not that I watch most of them. Time to re-evaluate.

Hmm, all channels isn't too shabby but then again, I forget that you've got the TV thing in there too. I only have internet and no TV (sold those as I don't watch anymore) but still, I bet mine would be twice as cheap because of the area.

I am a maintenance splicer at at&t and uverse is good and bad. Whenever people ask about the service I reply with "Do you see us around your area a lot during the winter season?" If they reply yes, then I advise not to get it because the telephone cable is most likely in bad condition (rain issues). But, if they reply they never see us around then I would say go ahead and get it. The problem always comes down to the condition of the aerial or underground cable or even the house wiring.

Of course newer home tracts have fiber to the prem so cable is not an issue, but now at&t is trying to go wireless (which they have in limited areas) and abandon the copper plant. They actually tried this many, many years ago when they were trying to go broadband and that was a complete failure....

I seriously don't see AT&T very often in my neighborhood. I do see Time Warner more often than I can count fingers on both hands. :)I have a neighbor who works for AT&T and he said they'll be rolling out U-Verse. It's just a matter of when. My home is also new so I have the advantage there. :)

I got rid of my home phone recently, I was paying $40/month and barely used it. I also got rid of a second cable tv decoder, and if my flatmate didn't watch TV i'd have gotten rid of the main one too.

I still have lots of fast internet, and I beefed up my cell plan a bit to compensate. I use Skype quite a bit now too.

you have a flatmate Tim? why am I surprised?

I could certainly live without a TV or a landline phone, but I certainly would find it very very difficult to let go of my internet connection.

Helps pay the mortgage, and my house is a decent size, with just me it feels too empty. I haven't found a girl I want to keep yet.

Yeah my house. It's normal in NZ to live with others around the same age if you don't have family with you, and yeah it helps pay the bills.

Is D700 good for IR photography? Read it, along with D3, has a very efficient IR Cut filter over its sensor so it's not that good for IR photography .... Will B+W 093 IR filter produce good results on it?

Would like to know if anyone is getting good results with D700 for IR photography.
