Got a new toy for more post-processing power. Not the greatest composition, rushed it a bit so I could play with the new system.

Is D700 good for IR photography? Read it, along with D3, has a very efficient IR Cut filter over its sensor so it's not that good for IR photography .... Will B+W 093 IR filter produce good results on it?

Would like to know if anyone is getting good results with D700 for IR photography.

I am just starting to shoot with the D700 with an IR filter.. haven't really learned it yet.

one of the things I have noticed, is there is a big hotspot in the middle of the photo, I think the problem is my lens 28-75mm, it reflects a lot of light towards the middle. I have not tested it extensively yet though

I have read about the problems of hot spots too. That could be because of using larger aperture than f8.

From what I read, you have to do extensive PP to get the picture right from D700. Another option is to have an old camera converted at a place like lifepixel (hope I got the name right) for IR use. They remove the IR cut filter and replace it with a clear filter or an IR filter depending up on what you specify.

so far I have read some that says D700 and D70 are good for IR.. so I am not sure

I was using f/13 that time and I still got a hot spot, it was not bright though...it was my first try.. I might try again this weekend if I could

Mac OS is worth all the windows in the world!
That is a nice laptop... looking to add some power to mine, CS5 and lightroom really kills it...

Nice laptop Vinnie! You did good not buying the RAM from them. I would bump that up as soon as you can. Your running windows 7 64 Bit right?

It can be an absolute pig fitting RAM to a laptop. My ASUS has four slots - two are accessible, but the other two are buried deep and require total dismantling. I made sure to get them upgraded before I bought it.

hwuaa... that's bad!! I only had 2 slots on both my laptops so both are fairly visible when you open the latch
