I filmed a driving sequence with two cameras, one pointing forward and one pointing backward and I want to put it into split screen.
I'm not sure if Windows Moviemaker can do this. I've searched the menu options but no luck.

And to make it funkier, I downloaded Premier Elements and it crashes everytime I open it.

This isn't a video that needs a lot of editing. Moviemaker would be fine, but I can't figure out how to do split screen. Sure, it's a cheesy 70s effect, but I like it.

Thank you. bw!

You would need to have multi-layer editing, which WMM doesn't do:

Actually, there are xml codes for split screen in MM. Take a look at this thread for some xml codes http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net …howPost.aspx?PostID=56095 (external link)

Basically you'll overlap your 2 clips on the timeline, and put the splitscreen feature/transition in the middle.

Thanks. I tried to download that plugin but had no luck. However, I did figure out how to do it in Premier Elements, which is currently a trial issue, but I'll probably buy it before the thirty days is up. I can get a pretty good deal being a teacher. Plus it's not that expensive anyway.

Essentially split screen in Premier Elements (from the way I figured it out) is done with picture in picture. That's super easy to work with, and the software is pretty intuitive.

I haven't tried anything other than moviemaker (which is pretty decent for simple stuff) and now Premier Elements.

Right now I'm in the learning phase.

Thank you. bw!
