Rumours seem like they are all over the place.
Below appear to be the latest ones...

Anyone seen this:

http://www.canonrumors.com …2/5d-mark-iii-5d-x-specs/ (external link)

If this is true, it looks like the 5D3 will be a loser cam (26MP, 19 point AF, only 4.9fps) while the 5Dx will be the real deal (45MP, 61-point AF).

I'd like to see how the weather sealing is, though, and whether a version with no AA filter becomes available.

Wonder how many fps the X will have.

4.9 still isn't much for the 3, thought it would at least be up around 6..

That's because it is a loser that doesn't do anything particularly well.

26MP? Not enough to be a 'high resolution' camera like the D800, while those who don't need high resolution will likely consider it too many.

19-point AF? Considering that the competition is offering 51 points capable of focusing at EV -2, nine of which focus down to f/8...

4.9fps? Not exactly an action body either.

So, what is it?

Didn't say it was or will be a loser, should the specs be correct, just thought it may of come with or will come with higher fps...

It's the camera that I want. Not sure what you want ? 100MP, 100 AF points, super cold weathersealed under -21 Centrigrade, noise free ISO 28000 ?.

Do you feel powerless/worthless if your Canon camera is lesser than the Nikon ?.

That would be good.

No, but, with better equipment, I can print larger, hit focus more reliably in AI Servo mode and shoot in harsher conditions without fear of the camera failing. And - guess what - if Nikon continues to offer all these extras in the $3000 price bracket, while Canon doesn't, then Canon will lose business.

After all, if one person buys a $3k body instead of a $6k body, because the $3k body suits their style of photography better, or just as well as, the $6k body, they lose $3k in sales. If someone switches to Nikon because they are offering these features while Canon are not, they lose a lot more in lens sales. And, of course, if someone chooses Canon specifically *because* they offer better features in the $3k price range, then they've earned themselves $3k, plus whatever lens sales that would otherwise have gone to Nikon.

"The grass is always greener" Sounds like most here wont be happy unless they get all the features of the 1DX in a 3000.00 body....wont happen...if thats what your lookin for you might as well switch now but be ready to buy expensive cf cards to hold the huge files and a new puter to work with them...and if thats not enough...your going to be paying big bucks for nikon glass! There lens line up of affordable glass sucks.

Gear is important but I think it's received way more credits that it supposed to.

And that's the truth. If the 1Dx is exactly what you want Canon is obviously not going to sell the same specs--or anything close to them--any cheaper than the 1Dx.

No, I don't want the features of the 1Dx in a $3k body. I wouldn't even want the features of the 1Dx in a $1k body.

I want the features of the D800, with a Canon mount. Even if it cost $4.5k.

And, guess what - high-end Canon glass is just as expensive.
