Rating images before importing them to the computer.

I have long waited for canon to implement this. I have envyed (spelling?) my nikon friends, they have had this since D700 (maybe even earlier).

It's great if you have veeery short deadlines to be able to rate your photos right after you are done shooting to quickly get your photos uploaded/sent wherever almost instantly.

Ofcourse, for most people this is a usesless feature. But photojournalists etc who want/needs to be speedy about getting their photos out there, it is a welcome feature.

But i find it wierd that they have their own button just for that.. Maybe it is for something else ^^

With the dual cards, I am sure you can also send JPeg's to one, and RAW to the other. Might help your workflow out.

If I buy camera gear from Hong Kong, they fudge the forms without asking.. They won't even give you the option of paying!

I am usually honest but the prices here are outrageous!

So when I gave a mate some money and he happened to send me a present in a big white box I didn't complain :) it's kiiiinda a grey area- at least that's what I told myself

Sending money outside PayPal would be a lot different. Taking a payment for goods and then marking them as a gift when printing the postage and customs forms is just asking for trouble even if they allow you to mark it as a gift. Outside of PayPal it's a totally different story.

For now yes, but I'm happy it's not the ancient 9 AF points .

I think they knew they would be laughed out of town if they put that seven year old AF system in this one.

This body is so similar in design to the 7D you should look hard to find a real difference
of course there is no flash
and no DOF preview button
apart form that very similar (and i like it)

Great spec that makes sens (well if priced less than 3000)

Canon made the right sensible decision on performance & pixel density

Well we will however going to have multiple thread claiming how bad it is - i for one begin to save

Yeah, after seeing the 5DIII specs I think I will just buy a 7D to use along with my 5DII.

It depends what you are shooting. If you are shooting sports, IMO the 7D is an absolute steal at $1280 (quick eBay search)!!

But if you are only shoot sports occasionally, I would probably go for the 5D III. The auto focus sounds amazing and 6fps is no slouch. I'm tempting myself now lol.

and no DOF preview button

The 5DIII does have a DOF preview button, it's on the grip side this time.

The pic on Canon Rumors is different.

Looks like Canon have taken away this feature and blanked off the area where the clip used to be. Looks like a parts bin cover up!

Decided to lighten this up. Looks like there's a DoF Preview button right under the body's lens mount (or maybe it's just a screw). Also, is that a customizable fn button on the grip side? :)

For those complaining of too many Nikon buttons, it's not exactly different than the 5D3.

I was talking outside paypal in that case. But I have bought countless items from the states - literally hundreds and hundreds of items - and if the package is marked $999 or less, customs will NEVER waste time looking for proof. But I fully understand the risks and rarely break the rules myself. However my recent 7D + 70-200mm II purchase made me re consider my stance when customs called for the bill to be paid :(

Nikon body is just uglier so the buttons look prominent.

As I told this guy send me a international postal money order and I'll send it any way you like. He didn't like that idea either. ;)

Anyhow, I was just looking at some of the latest images of this. It appears almost identical the the 7D and I don't see a mode switch lock on it unless I'm blind.

Agreed the Canon is much nicer IMO :) not that looks really matter lol

I recently found out Canons buttons are all color coded, blue and white, for buttons you use before/while taking a picture and buttons you use after taking a picture. I'm probably the only one that never noticed after all these years.
