5D2 -> 5D3 ( upgrade iso & AF)
D700 -> D800 ( upgrade MP & HD Video)

They must have secret agreement behind the scene! Well played :lol:

I have no issue in what a camera looks like as long as the images come out. With the exception of those ugly Canon grips. :)

The problem is even the Canon OEM grips obviously look like add-ons and the Rebel grips are even worse.

Now we just need to know more about the most important part - the dynamic range.

I agree, but I thought the D800 had a massive improvement in ISO capabilities over the D700?

I wonder if they upped the x-sync from 1/200 (some copies only synced at 1/160) to a true 1/250? Even the original 1Ds can sync at 1/250 so it should not be a big deal...

1/320 would be better
Who knows the Aussie conversion rate to US dollars

On the HDR subject... I wonder if Canon has some trick of there sleeve on this front (being there is a dedicated button).

If HDR could be done "perfectly", everyone would want it. Current sensors pickup about 5 stops of dynamic range. The human eye around 10. If canon has figured out a way to collect, say, 7 stops of light with the end result being one RAW file, and the image looking very much like we see in real life, they would have something.

That alone, would sell the camera.

So what is the new "groundbreaking" feature that is coming with the 5D3? Specs look good but I dont see anything groundbreaking on the list..

Maybe it is yet to be unveiled.

hmm i thought 5D2 iso is better than D700...correct me if I'm wrong?
i thought that what makes 5D2 more popular than D700 is the iso performance and HD video quality. There's a movie shot by 5D2 and got into the Oscar ...:D

The Rebel grips aren't exactly attractive but, to each their own who use them. I won't be using them since I can use the 5D 3 for walk around. :) The only problem is when using a telephoto. :p

I don't know, putting a full featured AF system in it after seven years is groundbreaking to me.

In Australia the 5D2 was 4299 when released, so 4200 is actually $100 cheaper in Australian terms

umphotography wrote in post #13996559 (external link)
well in the good ol USA it was $2500.00 at B&H

Where are you guys getting $3500 from for the Mark III? I can't see it on Canon rumors but everyone is quoting that price here.

The price in Australia is always WAY above prices in the US. It could well come in at $3000 or under for all we know.. Or has it been announced?
