Interesting but I don't think he did them justice with the mug shot style pose.

That was the Avedon approach and I think the reason he did it. Nothing but a simple, honest interpretation. You are forced to deal with the subject, nothing else, in a very real way.

Exactly. It's his ability to capture the subject's beauty with unflinching honesty that make these such compelling images, IMO. Schoeller is another that comes to mind. Thanks for the post, airfrogusmc - I love stuff like this. :)
