Welcome to Pittsburgh!! How's the snow?? Glad you got some good shots. You'll notice the nose art on the front of the KC-135. The C-130's based here have great nose art as well. Both units have a local artist paint their planes with nose art thought up by the plane's crew chief. Always watch for the left front of either unit's planes as they come and go to catch the nose art.

By the way, Pittsburgh with have their big airshow this year. It will be the weekend of 11/12 Sept, so mark your calendar!! We will have the [EDIT: Thunderbirds], Golden Knights, and likely one or more of the F-15, F-16, F-22, F-18 or A-10 demo team(s) here, plus many other great civilian acts and the usual full ramp of static displays . . .

I had a ton of fun digging my car out of two feet of snow lol. Yeah I did notice the nose art, I went to their website to see more pictures of them. And yeah I heard about that airshow and that it was cancelled last year, do you know why? And is it going to be free like in '08? I'm pumped for it, and the weekend before that is Cleveland's with the BA's as well. It's gonna be a good year.

Yes I do . . . I am the one who cancelled it. We had a big inspection and deployment load last year, and simply could not bring enough manpower and money to make a good airshow. We're back though!! We chose the September date so the big acts could easily go from Cleveland to Pittsburgh the next weekend. It tends to make logistics easier, and attracts them so they have an easier time of it . . .

Awesome I can't wait. I'll be going both days if admission isn't too high. I would really like to see the F-22 again, it never disappoints :)

Admission=Free, can't promise F-22 though. Had it last time, and they like to spread it around . . .

Didn't realize that, doesn't matter because anything that goes fast and is loud is always good. It's pretty amazing you can put this on for free, never seen that before.

Nice shots. Looks like you have some good spots to shoot from there, even though you aren't really happy with the traffic. Being in Pittsburgh, keep track of schedules for your professional sports teams when they have home games. You will get charter airlines and or for the lucky teams who have their own aircraft.

Will do, thanks for the advice. The traffic isn't the greatest because for the size of the airport I'm surprised it's not busier and the biggest is a 752 that lands once, maybe two times a day, other than that it's mainly Embraer's and CRJ's.

Yeah I know, I was quite surprised at that location. That's where I got #5 from. Everything else I get at the cemetery just west of there because my lens is too long to take pictures when the plane is a couple hundred feet over your head :). Hoping to get a UWA for those shots.
