I noticed on the Pixel site that one of their battery packs fits a whole lot of older Nikon Speedlights.
That raises my interest for using them off camera with RF-602s in combination with my 580EXs. They are a lot cheaper than even a Canon 550EX.

I know I lose TTL functionality but...

This would mostly be for architectural and similar situations where having a lot of smallish speedlights scattered about would be useful.

Anyone familiar with the Nikon speedlights in this "strobist" application. (Geez, I'm beginning to really hate that overused term.)
