I didn't think it was possible to see and photograph a more colorful bird than the resplendent quetzal. I am reconsidering that position. Guess that's one of the reasons why we keep going to far places and hauling gear to record nature's bounty.

This shot handheld at 400mm, 1/100s @ f/5.6. Cropped with some saturation in post. C&C always welcome. Not certain I'll stay with this crop. Think the acacia thorns neat. May go vertical.

Wow! The colors in that bird look almost artificial. Great capture.

Sorry for leaving out capture site. Shot near Ndutu in Tanzania during 13-day camping photo safari. Favorite bird shots were of this beauty and an African Crowned Eagle. Just put up a second folder on the website. A goshawk was eating a catch in the same tree. Unbelievable destination. Do it if you get a chance.

Pat I'd like to see this image and the maximum size allowed for posting. I'm undecided about the vignetting.

Thanks Pat. I do like the cropped version which places the bird a little off centre of the frame. I like habitat shots a lot and having the bird in the acacia tells a story for me.

I took a look at your website and I loved your Africa 2010 images. I really hope to make it there someday.

Too bad they have a terrible song. Sort of like Britney Spears, all fluff and no song.
