I'm currently a college student, so I'm looking for a backpack that will hold my gear + a netbook, a 5-subject notebook, engineering pad, and various rulers and protractors, as well as a 1"- 2" text book... no real need to carry more than 1 book at a time.

I've read through the reviews here: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=585253 and saw a few that I thought were interesting, but nothing really jumped out at me.

I'd like the backpack to hold the above school related stuff, as well as my T1i, my 24-105, 12-24, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm as well as a few filters, extra battery, charger etc...

I'd like to be able to carry the camera with me at all times, and as I have a separate bag for the camera, it normally lives in the car while I go to class.

Any ideas would be appreciated. If any more information is needed from me, please don't hesitate to ask. If you happen to have something that would fit these needs, and are looking to sell, let me know. this isn't an official classified ad, I'm looking to gather information and make a purchase.

Thanks.

not bad... but I don't see much room in that puppy for any school books or a 5 subject spiral bound notebook... the netbook would fit though...

and don't worry about price... functionality is of much more importance than price.

That's a tall order. A body, five lenses, accessories, and a laptop, plus the ability to carry school supplies. Your best bet might be to get a laptop bag with a large main compartment and add some camera/lens inserts. It's not ideal, but it's probably workable.

I hope you find a bag that works for you. I'm very interested in seeing if someone else can find a bag that does everything you want.

I am a big fan of Lowepro and they offer a wide range of options. Maybe the Fastpack 350?

There are Fastpack-like bag from a lot of the major companies, but I don't think you could actually put books and a laptop in any of them. I don't think the top compartment is big enough. Maybe the Tamrac Adventure 10, but that bag is huge according to the Tamrac dimensions, and still iffy from the pictures I've seen.

The Crumpler Customary Barge might be a possibility. You might be able to squeeze a netbook and book into the laptop area. I'm not certain, though, as I haven't seen this one in person.

Same here...they arent a company that price gouges you just for their name like alot do(wont mention any names but most know who they are). You get quality materials and construction for a fair price...ive got 3 different Lowepro bags and all of them have been fantastic.
