Ring flash out door question... Help...

Ok I am not sure if this is the right place to be posting this.

I have built myself a ring flash. The one using a 10.5 inch clamp light. I know a lot of people here have built this or at least seen it.

I am doing a photo shoot outside tonight around 5. The starts to set at that time. What I want to know is will the ring flash be worth bringing along since I will be out side? Will it do anything at all since the light is so diffused?

5D Mark II gripped, 40D gripped, Canon 430EX, 24mm f/2.8, nifty fifty, 85mm f/1.8, 100mm macro. Tamron 28-80mm,
