Pin cushion is a type of distortion. That has to do with how a lens is designed, not how dirty the glass is.

I wouldn't buy that lens. The seller has no idea what they're talking about or you're not understanding what they said.

The only way I'd buy that lens is if it was if I could buy it for so little that after I spent the money to repair it I could still sell it for a large profit. Way to much risk for me.

Here is a depiction of pin-cushioning which is normally associated on the long end of the telephoto lens:

http://www.dpreview.com …key=pincushion+distortion (external link)

The distortion results on this lens performed by SlrGear are here below:

http://www.slrgear.com …uct.php/product/57/cat/11 (external link)

Distortion
As with shading, so went distortion: On our EOS-20D test body, distortion ranged from a 0.2% barrel at 70 mm to 0.16% pincushion at 200mm, passing through zero distortion at 100 mm.

Regards , :D

Am i right to say pin-cushioning is not a problem and lens would be ok to buy?

IMHO, only if this particular seller has an authentic minimum 7 day return policy would i even consider the lens. I have the 70-200 F4L IS and do not notice any obvious distortion at 200mm.

Regards whatever your decision ! :D
