Here is mine..

It is just a starting point because we are not sure about the complete layout yet. Also, we have friend that does web design who is going to do our menus and some other extras. I do love all the freedom to customize the site.

Nice Wayne....very clean.

Thanks. Your site is clean as well. It was one of the ones I looked at when I started researching using Smugmug.

Thanks.....with the ability to customize, I'm sure it will be a fluid site...as I learn more stuff, I'll keep changing things up a bit.

I leaned on dgrin forum help for EVERYTHING in the setup of my site, so all advice is coming from someone who really doesn't know how to implement the stuff:)

Congrats on the new hobby (it's like crack man.....run away fast). Even more, congrats on the daughter.

Your site. The text blends too much in with the background. White text, or lighter, or make the background a lighter shade. Part of it might be my work monitor. The layout is pretty clean and simple. Works well if its to showcase your general shots and family stuff. If your goal is to make this your photo site...with maybe an eye toward selling, I would look to have a single shot, or slideshow as the home page for your site.

I strongly suggest that if you are thinking that route, go to the dgrin forum, find the thread in the customization threads about showing your site and post there. They are BRUTALLY honest, and often have plenty bad, and a little good, to say, but it is very helpful, and usually the suggestions come with explanations on how to do it (or links to the explanations).

One thing I would suggest is that you look up on drgin the 4-across code for galleries thumbs. It lines them up and sticks the text under the thumbs for a cleaner look similar to what I have done:

http://www.gwagdesigns.com/galleries (external link)

Also, set your gallery style to clean so the updated date disappears, unless thats something you want.

Ok, great! Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't had a lot of time to mess around with my smugmug because of the little one. Both of your suggestions are great! I appreciate it. I will also check out dgrin later (never heard of it). My wife and I have the baby here at brookfield zoo in chicago, gonna work on some wildlife pics! Thanks again, have a good rest of the day!

Im new to smugmug in fact still on my trial period. I have a few questions for those that have been in it for a bit. Do you actually sell pictures on the site and how do you customize your page? Any tips, links or advice would be great, thanks.

I kinda like the dates, but I kinda like just the description....might play with that....thanks. As far as four across thumbs? .... on my screen it's doing that as long as the browser is open wide enough to take them?

Hey there....your shots are awesome!! I have not sold at all no....but the guy who suggested smugmug to me does regularly. It is a pretty easy system to use.

How do you customize....There is an easy customization tab that gets you your first taste.
From there it's wading through the forum (or writing code if you know it) to get the looks you're going for. Lots of people on the forum willing to lend a hand to help.

I am not having luck with the Smugmug coupon code for 50% off. Anyone have the proper code good for 8/20 or 8/21/2010?
