I'm running in to a sync problem when I use both my Cactus V4s and my wireless shutter release. I have 2 different "brands" of wireless shutter releases, JueYing and another cheap $15 EBay Chinese random brand setup. Both releases have 16 channels. Flashes are Quantaray PZ-1 DSZ and the camera is an XS.

The problem I run in to is that when I use both the V4s and the shutter releases I get a late firing flash....most of the time. Sometimes I get a full frame but most of the time I have to step down from 1/200 to 1/50 before I can get a clean shot.

Configurations I tested today are:

No flash, wireless release - WORKING

Flash on camera hot shoe, 1/200, wireless release - WORKING

Flash off camera with V4, 1/200, 2 and 10 sec timer and manual fired shutter - ALL WORKING

Pretty safe to say there's interference with the release and the V4s. It's just curious to me that adding the wireless release to the mix just slows things down and will work with a 1/50 or slower shutter speed.

Anyone else run in to this? Known issue with an easy workaround? Or should I just write it off to cheap equipment. It's not a big deal since I rarely expect to see a situation that I will use both wireless setups.

My camera says Canon and goes clickity clickity click.

Surely someone out there has a setup similar to mine? Even if not with the same problem, I would like to know if it works or not for someone else.

Try replacing the battery.
That's what I did on mine.

I've had major problems with sync speed with my cactus V4's. they used to work well but recently they have been playing up so badly that yesterday I made the upgrade to the elinchrom skyports :)

My issue with the cactus's was mainly when I would use the 2 sec or 10 sec timer, they would fire fine the first time but would then mostly misfire or I would need to use shutter speeds of 1/60 in order to sync !!

It all goes to show that you get what you pay for right?

I had the same problem with the v2's and a remote trigger. Some sort of radio interference I presume.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same setup as you

I have Cactus V4's with two PZ-1 DSZ's and i shoot with a Nikon D90.

When using the V4's and an Opteka (chinese) radio release for my camera @ 1/200 all i got were blank frames. Finally i just had to give up on using the radio release and shoot manually instead. There's definitely some issue there

I'm sooooo glad i stumbled on this. I was using cheapo Flashpoint triggers with a cheapo radio trigger for the shutter. Blank frames is exactly what happened!!
