@The OP, why a 7D if you have no glass? You'd have been better off with something a lot cheaper and some good glass to go with

I bought my 7D with a kit lens at Christmas and bought my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS yesterday. For me personally I'm glad I didn't fall into the get a lesser body so you can get some good glass first argument.

In defense of the OP's 28-135 (sorry, it's on an XSi):

Being old with bad eyes, I have no complaints about the kit lens. Focus where you want to, not where the camera wants to.

I agree.I have never owned a 28-135 but from just looking at the lens sample archive, and reading most of the feedback from this lens, I would have to say that it performs pretty darn good for the money. They sell as low as $200 bucks used and I think that's quite a deal for the nice "Walk-around" focal range and IS. In the case of the 7D, I suspect a lot of newbies who don't understand or know how to operate the AF correctly and blame the lens.

Heck, I was thinking about this lens and a 20/30d for a nice little travel kit. A nice little set-up for $400-500 bucks if you ask me. But, I have the Oly for that :)

I recommend it to anyone on a budget, if your not...then go wild.
