I've been trying to improve my skills by shooting around the feeders in my yard. Not a huge variety in my area right now. There were a couple of Cardinals coming around regularly but I haven't seen them in 2 weeks. It was very cloudy and grey Sat so I was practicing using fill flash with a Better Beamer. Some of them look a little too flashed for my liking so I still have work to do on balancing ambient exposure and -FEC. Anyhow, here's some of the better ones (IMO) any CC is appreciated. All were shot with a MKIIn and 400 5.6 w/1.4x tele.

Really like the first Junco shot. I like it the best because the background is so simple and there are no distracting elements to the image. Some of the others seems to be cropped a little too much.

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting comment about the cropping. I've done a lot of sports shooting in the past where "crop tight" is the rule so I've carried that over now that I've gotten into shooting birds.

I'm curious if others think these are too tight also.
