Ill stick with the kit lens and thgot the e 55-250mm

Rivest - I was thinking that about the range but my mind went blank, so i held back but you have kept me on line now. Also I will make sure i dont go cheap on a UV to now you have said, i was going to just pick a random one but if its going to hurt my pictures ill end up poking it with a twig!!

enrigonz - Good shout about the 17-50 Tamron and your right about the 55-250 im best getting the kit and that although im liking the Tamron now you have pointed it out.

i got the t2i with lens 18-55 and 55-250 off ebay and i LOVE it . i find myself using the 55-250 alot. im very happy with the picture quality

i pics up my t2i @ best buy it came with the kit lens and a 55-250is lens and cam bag just had to run to b&h to pick up a 50mm f/1.8, flash and lens cleaning kit
i must say im really happy with my lens choice

if you have the kit 18 55 and the nifty 250 do you realy need the nifty 50?
if so why?

This may be old news, but Picasa 3.8 fixed issue with thumbnails for T2i RAW files.

I have the 50mm and I use it not that quite often. When I'm inside I use often the 17-40 or 24-105 f/4. Recently I borrowed the 24-70 and this one is favorite for inside photography. I'm thinking about to buy one

The 50 mm works fine for indoor pictures en portrait pictures

No you dont "need" it. Its just a great cheap lens that fills the need for lowlight shooting and bokeh. If you feel like 50 wont be used try the 60mm macro or 85 1.8

Im wanting the 50mm f/1.8 for close shots, face shots, portraits. There my main and probably only reasons ha!

Anishkumar - Thanks for the mention, i live in the UK sunny Manchester (i wish) The 550d model on there website is it the UK version. Thats what i thought.

I sure seems to be the one for me now, Does anyone know of a UV filter that would suit all 3 lenses, ill need another one for the 50mm f1.8 cause its smaller aint it or infact i dont think ill need one for that as it will be mainly inside.

I dont use filters on any of my lenses unless its a cir. polarizing filter for effect. Other than that I would not worry about a filter on kit lenses simply because to be able to not get any IQ loss the filters would cost almost as much if not more than what the lens costs itself. The front elements can take quite a bit of impact before they are shattered.

My initial purchases came with both 18-55mm and 55-250mm kit lens, and I bought a 50mm f1.8 for the exact same reason as fearlessv. However, I'm not sure if I should have gone for something between 30-40mm because when I'm taking pictures inside (my dogs), they get so curious that they walk up to me, so the pictures become super zoomed in.

I've also got the 15-85mm USM lens about 1 week ago as my main walk around lens, it has performed beautifully for outdoor auto racing events, but for indoor/low light, it still can't beat the 50mm f1.8.

I still have so much to learn about the 550D, and I look forward to learning from you guys going forward.

congrats!! welcome to the family. I have always felt that the 50 1.8 was an odd FL for indoors. Not wide enough. Look into a 35mm f/2, 28mm f/1.8, or the sigma 30 1.4. All good lenses with a FL ~ to 50mm. I have herd nothing but good reviews about the 15-85 good choice!

I just checked. I have 3.6 and checked for updates, it tells me I am up to date.. how do you get the 3.8 update?

it will update on its own over time or you can go to picasa.google.com and click on the download for 3.8

Features question

I'm choosing between a 50D and a T2i. I need to know a couple things and I can't seem to find them.

1.) Does the T2i allow for multiple exposures?
2.) Does the T2i have a dept of field preview?
3.) Is there any difference in the two in the number of colors that can be captured?(This is my first foray into digital and I'm not quite sure if I'm asking this question correctly)
4.) Which camera is capable of the best image quality (colors are more important to me than how large I can blow up the image)

4- all cameras are capable of good IQ as long as you put good glass in front of it. 15 vs 18 MP is not a huge number. Either will give you good results s long as you have good glss. The large number of MP are demanding for good glass. It comes down to the need for video- T2i, need for speed/durability- 50d.

I am a recent 50d owner and now own a t2i.
