+1 T2i is my first DSLR, and it's unlocked a new world for me. So much fun. Very capable camera.

It's my second, after an XSi, and I'm just enjoying it !!
Hopefully, y'all should be able to get some good seasonal 'deals', on your cameras. ;)

I'm getting the t2i by the end of the year :D been saving up for about a year now. ironically, the 10 more days I have to wait are going to end up feeling longer than the last 12 months! xD

I'm just so excited to get it. I've lived off of cheap camera's not even worth $100, so my enthusiasm is deserved.

I want to know from people who own the t2i just how great it is... make my enthusiasm that much greater :D

Be enthusiastic!

I bought a T2i about a month ago after saving for a dslr for 18 months. I bought both the 18-55 and 55-250 lenses.

Absolutely no buyer's remorse! I'm having a great time learning to use it. It meets or exceeds every expectation I built up over the past 18 months. A fantastic tool for creating images. I've been using a Canon S3IS since 2006, so this is a huge step up for me. I haven't owned an slr since the late '70s when I bought a Canon FTb.

I thought I fully understood photography and cameras but I'm learning many things now that I have a dslr in my hands. It may take you some time before you get the images you want.

Enjoy your new camera when it arrives!

David

ha thanks. it's a bit silly in my case considering I just RECENTLY got into photography not even a year ago. for me, it was one of those love at first sight things.

if you think I love photography now, just wait until I get my t2i. it'll be the first DSLR I've ever owned. plus, they lowered the price over here from $900, to $750! (even including the 18-55mm lens) I think it's just a christmas special though. lucky me! :D

I think what I'm excited about the most is the video quality. I want to get into videography as well as photography. I even downloaded adobe after effects (and sony vegas, trying to determine which is better) along with a bunch of popular plugins for video editing like magic bullet and twixtor. so yea, I'm ready from day 1 when I get this camera ;)

It's an addictive hobby. Early this year I didn't even know what SLR meant, and then my brother-in -law lent me one with a nice lens. It's been no looking back! I"ve had a great time and learned a ton, but have also spent a ton on cameras and lenses:D:oops:
Last night I pulled the trigger on a new $900 lens I really shouldn't be buying, although I must admit I don't really feel bad about it. I've got about 25k pictures on the hard drive, and have no idea how many I've deleted.

When I started looking at the thread I was lost...beware! View at your own peril.

Wow, Rivest, your lineup is in constant change! Amazing! I really envy you. If I wasn't "married with children" I would be doing the same.

Yes it is! What you don't see is the saving I'm doing on my side to allow such upgrade :P

Sold the iPad to fund the 10-20 and the 100mm ;)

Also, staying at your parent's house, working full time brings some money in the bank :D

How's that 10-20 so far Rivest?
I'm also looking into the UWA market but I'm leaning towards Tokina 11-16 to expand my 2.8 range.

I wanted to stop in and say hello. I've had my T2i since before the summer. I've geen taking pictures a long time and fell out of interest. Recent I got bit by the bug and spent about 3 years searching for a digital camera. When the T2i hit the shelves I knew it was a winner.

It was an agonizing decision between Nikon and Canon, but ultimately I wound up here, although I don't think there are any bad choices.

Been loving the camera and lenses, and yes it is a bit of an addiction. But the good kind of addiction (I think).

After owning the camera for 6 months I wanted to find a friendly place to see how others are doing with the same equipment.

Ken, you definately have some nice equipement for a starter! I also started with the 18-55, 55-250 and 50mm F1.4.

You've got a really nice wide angle and a awesome macro lens. I'm looking forward to see some of your work in the T2i user unite thread.

Welcome in :)

Welcome Ken. This is a topic for most of us starters, but in general POTN is a great forum as you will see for yourself :)

Rivest, Orbitechgr:

Thank you very much. I've been browsing the forums and looking at members pictures, of which some are just jaw-droppers.

I have the good fortune of having a friend, who is a Nikon person. He knows I've been looking for a camera and I discussed some options. To his credit, he didn't really push on brand over the other. And every brand has it's pluses and minuses and all the manufacturers play leap-frog to a certain extent. This friend was also instrumental in bouncing ideas about what lenses to purchase.

The camera still owns me after 6 months. I can't say when I go out to take a picture I know exactly how to set the camera up and what lens to use to get the result I'm thinking about in my mind.

Methinks that comes with experience (a lot of it), but I'm willing to share whatever I have and love to learn new things.

I got my T2i in late February (one of the first sold in the Boston area). Since then I've snapped a little over 5500 images and 2 have been corrupted. I've got a PNY card, which I take to be a reputable brand. I guess 1/2700 isn't a bad average, but has anyone else experienced file corruption with the T2i?

Never had one corrupted shot, and I've shot almost 13,000 (since June)
