I have decided it is time to upgrade to a new camera body and had looked into the T2i but dismissed it because of the price. It seemed a little too rich for my blood right now in this economy.
Today I drove to my local BestBuy with the intention of buying a 450D with the cash I have on hand. They price match and I was told they could do it for the same price as Walmart which is $558.65 online. Well I talked to the salesman and they were out of stock so I decided to try the Target store to see if they had them. They did not have it at the store I visited but I had him check other stores and he found one nearby. When I inquired of the price it was much more then I had expected, $649.99 in store.
I decided to just come home and shop the internet and see if I could find a XSi online. On the way home I stopped by the ATM to deposit the cash I had on had into my account. I had six $100 bills, all but one were accepted by the ATM. So I could only deposit $500 into my account.
When I got to the house I started to lower my expectations of an upgrade. I started to shop online and saw that the Target near my home had the 1000D in stock and on the website it was $499.99 so I settled and drove on over to buy it. When I got to the store I walked back to electronics and my jaw dropped when I saw the in store price marked $569.99 plus tax, $607 plus some change after tax. I was now pretty pissed, so I drove straight home.
After sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out why the Gods have it that I will not be buying a new camera today I decided to crunch some numbers again.
I am happy to say that I am going to wait two weeks until my next paycheck and I am going to spend the extra money and buy the 550D. I have never been on the forefront of Canon's lineup of pro-sumer cameras, always lagging behind with older models to save money. I think it is time I treat myself and go to the front of the line and enjoy the best of the Rebel lineup.
I look forward to getting my hands on one in two weeks!
