In any case, there is a one missing point here: I would buy the T2i only because of its sweet ISO range. The samples I've seen at 3200 are more than respectable.

7d is video crossed with sports shooting camera, where the t2i is 70% about video and 30% "sell as many as we can to customers that think megapixels are the only measurable form of IQ", everyones freaking out about it, well it's not for everyone. We know that, if you shoot in the rain with a rebel it will die, if you are a proffesional a rebel will normally only be sufficiant as a backup camera unless you put 1k or more worth of glass on the end and when I do that it just feels wrong.

Rebel is for people new to DSLR's that don't have tons of money or average consumer
I think canon should get have a VDSLR line that has a couple models with a large price range so that people that just want to take picture don't have to pay extra for video feature they won't use.

Sorry bout the double post, I'm on my iPhone lol and I copy pasted it by accident

How much extra do you think it costs? If you've got Live View then all the hardware required is already there, all you need is the firmware capable of capturing the data. And that's already written and requires minor adaptation. So adding video to a camera costs a couple of dollars, maybe?

Idk cause I don't make cameras, it was just a side thought because what I do know is that the t2i is gonna rape all consumer and prosumer camcorders even double it's price if it takes video quality equivilent to the t1i IMHO (mainly just because of the swapable lenses). I care more about video right now as a future career and photography as a future hobby. And having a small portable VDSLR beats lugging around an XH A1

Not to mention that none of the Rebel series have ever had a pc sync port (to the best of my knowledge) for studio lighting which is what I use most.... of course I also use a Pocket Wizard which can be used on the T2i to get around no sync port.

Cheap to add.

You can also add cheap Wein pc sync port that hooks up the hot shoe.

Crap! March? I was hoping it would be out sooner. I have about as much patience as a doctor on his third malpractice suit.

Thank you. bw!

Do I need better build quality? No
Better ergonomics? Not really
More fps? No
Much Better Af? No
Bettwe weather sealing? No
Wireless flash control? No

So what's the point?

Anyways, I'm gonna use it for the video.
They're both 1.6 crop caméra, I'd like to see the difference in the image quality if there is?

If all you care about is video then yes just get the 550D.

Since you don't care about stills then obviously you won't get 'the point' of why a 7D is...well...a 7D. If you think a Rebel feels as good in the hands as a xxD or xD camera then you must have REALLY small hands

As mentioned the 7D is geared towards a sports shooting with a semi-pro body camera. The Rebel line up is geared towards entry-level consumers. Apples to oranges.

Yeah? Well you know, a video caméra, you mainly don't hold it. You get it to stand a support to make nice pan and traveling. So there is no point about complaining on the ergo here if you are anywhere to seriously shoot videos. By the way, I didn't say that I found the ergo as good as the other series of camera, just that I don't really need good ergo since it's mainly going to be on a support. And/Or with a grip, it makes good ergo anyways!

For stills I use my 5D which is far better than 1.6x camera imo anyways.

Not sure why you're being defensive about it, or maybe that's just the way it's coming across to me.

You asked "what's the point". For you, and what you intend to use it for, i could see why you'd say that. Anything else and it's apples to oranges.

Oh I'm not defensive, I'm just explaining my opinion about it, sorry if I sound harsh!!

Yes it's apples to oranges, you get what you know that you need to!!
