Mine comes tomorrow! So excited. Hopefully the nifty fifty will get here too.
It's my first DSLR after five years of P + S, three years of film DSLR.

The first once when you put a SD card in then push it to eject it the spring to kick the card up was messed up so the card just shoved all the way down in to the camera and you had to use a knife to dig it out. Returned it to Best Buy, the second one would not even come on. The third one the lens would work fine at 55mm. when yo zoom in to about 18-30mm the shutter would drag and it would give a communication error 01. Gear List? My gear is bigger than yours? Just shoot have fun...

So Best Buy is out of stock again and we still don't have a camera after three returns of bad cameras straight out of the box. When I bought my T2i, the salesman set it up and showed me how to work it before I left the store. Since I was purchasing it in a foriegn country, I wanted to make sure it was fully operational before purchasing it. It sounds like you need to do the same thing- don't leave the store until you know the camera works properly. Luckily, I've had no problems with mine and love the camera. Big-box retailers tend to put returned stock back on the shelves, so long as the packaging looks new. Did you have any indication that you may have been sold a previously-opened package?

Regarding the stuck SD card: Mine did that (although I didn't need to use a knife; fingernails worked) on the first few insertions, then the card slot loosened up. I haven't had a problem since then. They were new. I carefully check them out when I open them. They all needed date time set etc. I was monitoring BB and the guy at the camera dept called to tell me the truck just brought some in. Is there anything I can do to fix this or will it loosen up in time? Canon EOS T2i, Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 nonVC, Canon EF-S 18-55mm, Canon EF-S 55-250mm, Speedlight 430EX, Pro1, S95

It seems a similar problem Rjs. Is there anything he can do to help apart from sending it to canon..? Hi, I'm David.

I part exchanged my 5Dmk1 for the 550d and whilst at first I thought I was downgrading, not once have I felt that! I properly tested it yesterday with a photoshoot in a Steel Fabrication company. Really dark setting, only skylights and the entrance for light, so took the Nifty Fifty and the 18-55 old kit lens (needed WIDE), and 24-105 wouldn't cut it.
