I'm not sure this is a good deal. You can probably get the T2i and these two lenses from Amazon for $850 when it's in stock. That's what I did.

Hi yall this is my first post in these fourms. Im a video engieneer by trade that has always liked taking stills. Im looking to get into the DSLR world and i think i have settled on the t2i for my first camera. Even tho its my first camera i have a pretty good knowledge of photography, simply because video and still cameras share a lot of technology. And of course framing and shot compostion has some simlarites between the 2. with that said what i dont have knowledge of is lensing and what are good ones to start with. this kit on EBAY seems like a great starter set.

now. i am going to be shooting plenty of video on this camera, so keep that in mind when i ask my questions. i shoot lots of Wakeboarding, MX and other action sports. I want to get into studio work aswell as landscape, and nature. Basically i will be very diverse in what i shoot. But action sports will be the primary to start.
So my questions are these.
1. are the 2 lenses that comes with that package i listed before fast focusing ? shooting action the focus needs to be sharp and fast, so i cant have any dog slow lenses in my bag?
2. be it that these arent the top of the line 2.8 apertures how will they perform in not optimal natural lighting conditions?
3. for stuido work can this body trigger multiple flashes, or do i have to get softboxes that has constant light goin?
4. should i bite the bullet and buy the 7d ? or is the t2i a solid camera. the 100% price increase is a lot but it seems like the technonlgy isnt all that different, cept the fps. which is great on the 7d. But like a year or 2 ago 3.7 was considered very fast. So do i really need the 8fps ?
5. Should i not get this package and just buy the body and get other lenses ?
6. any other input would be great. im all ears for what ever you guys can tell me. thanks a lot in advance, and Hi to all my fellow DSLR users, i already learned a lot reading your posts, and i cant wait to learn more from all of u !

I wonder, is the t2i/550d really that much in demand?

I just found out 2 of my friends that I haven't talked to in a while bought t2i as their first dslrs. Take note, they were not even that much into photography in general.

I was going to buy a micro four thirds cam; then the stellar reviews of the D90 and the T2i convinced me to go for a full DSLR. People are really intrigued by the T2i's video capabilities.

Hey everyone wanting to get a T2i, and found this great deal, can anyone vouch for this site?
For 1200 comes with T2i, sigma 18-250, canon bag, hoya lens, and a additional canon battery.
Is the Sigma 18-250 a good lens to pear this dslr with, looking for a good all purpose lens and found this really good deal, I'm a 21 year old female photo student looking for advice. Thanks, also any other tips any of you guys with experience

I'd get a kit for $850 and wait off on buying an expensive lens. Do you really want a superzoom ?

Hey I just want something that is versitile! I was thinking of going with the sigma 18-250 or the tamron 18-270, but was also considering the canon 15-85. I really dont want to spend more than 650 on a lense? Any recomendations?

Can't say I've ever heard of Robertsimaging.com
Review (external link)s point to the shipping charges being too high. And yoo better find out if the kit comes with the battery charger 'cause what good are two batteries yoo can't charge.

"Here is some concert footage (external link) I shot with the T2i and my RODE. I was about 15 feet from the stage and the audience speakers and I think the RODE did a great job of capturing the sound.[/QUOTE]

LaFaiNe

I would be interested in knowing your workflow with the video. I recently took footage of a vacation on my T2i and am pulling my hair out trying to get the best quality video trying to convert .mov files to .avi to use is a workable edit program. What video editing program do you use and what kind of conversions? Thanks for any help.

The store you listed (external link) is among the best in the U.S. It's one of the few remaining full-time photo retailers, and their prices, products and services are exceptionally good.

The T2i used to create these images came from the retailer referenced above.

This T2i has gotten a hard workout over the last few days, being used at several events with several lenses. At no time has the camera had any problems. It's proving to be an extremely good performer, especially in low light - as shown by the ISO 3200 example above.

The only criticism of the camera seen on this forum has come from people who have never posted any of their own images here.

EOS Rebel T2i / 550D Firmware Update Version 1.0.8

Firmware changes

Firmware Version 1.0.8 incorporates the following fixes.

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves unexpectedly when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).

The Version 1.0.8 firmware is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.7. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.0.8, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Before downloading the firmware update, please be sure to read the entire contents of this page.

I guess I missed 1.0.7 completely...

so can you still update to 1.0.8 even if you dont have 1.0.7?

I'll go with "1 picture worth a 1000 words" but "yes" would also do..
