hey everyone, not sure if this is the correct section for this but if you were to choose to sell a body, 5D classic or 7D, which would you sell and why?

yes i am thinking about selling one of the two bodies that i own.

Well, those are pretty different cameras so it's hard to compare.
For MY kind of shooting (wildlife during daylight) the 7D would smoke the 5D anytime: faster, better AF, micro adjustment...
Just my 2 cents...

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

Based on your lens lineup I'd say keep the 5D. Looks like you might have bought the 7D on a whim and it probably doesn't suite your shooting style as much as the 5D does. Plus, you'll most likely get more out of the 7D.

which do you think will be more suitable for a walkaround camera? more for versatilty i suppose. i really like the look of the FF, but its also an older camera and it still proves its worth everytime i use it.

I think your current lens lineup matches better to the 5D for walkabout purposes. I wouldn't find 24mm wide enough on a crop body.

yeah, thats what i kind of figured. when i first got the 7D i was ecstatic, new camera, hd vid, mirco adj, weather sealed, etc...but when i started taking it out, i felt it was too much camera for me, too much camera in terms of functionality. too many bells and whistles, i found myself juggling around the functions so often resulting in missing shots. if i do send of selling the 7D, one thing i will miss for sure is the weather sealing. i go outdoors alot, hiking, camping, snow, etc...and if its one thing i would benefit from the 7D it would be the weather sealing.

I've got a 5D and 7D ... If I had to choose, I'd keep the 5D but that's just me and what I shoot. Granted, it would be a tough choice but I just like the 5D better for most of what I shoot.

johneo, thank you, thats exactly what i needed to hear.

i couldnt find anyone selling used 7Ds in the marketplace, what do you think a fair price would be for just the body? i think it has less than 2000 clicks.

Since they go new for about $1500 I would say less than that, lol. Maybe $1400?

The same question has been asked many times before, but in a different way."Which should I buy a 5d or 7D?"

i really like the look of the FF

Sell both (probably net close to $2500 or more for the two of them) and invest in a 1DsMk2 ($1900) and have FF, weather sealing, and enough to add a 17-40 ($600) or 70-200 f/4 ($500)?

Just a thought.

sorry, i'm not looking for trades at the moment. the reason i'm getting rid of one is bc i don't need two bodies.

i'm actually trying to recover some cash. i'm totally content with my 5D and i also don't want camera that screams "look at me, $5000 camera" <-- well its not $5000 anymore, but you know what i mean.

Fair enough. I just thought it might be the best way to have your cake and eat it too. Although if you demand that your cake not look like expensive cake...then you just have really complicated cake.

I think the metaphor may have gotten away from me.

Anyway, put me in the "keep the 5D" camp.
