Looking for a little help here. I've been approached to shoot a wedding in the British Virgin Islands later this year and have been doing a little research on destination weddings. One thing I can't seem to find is any info on the complexity of taking thousands of dollars worth of gear into another country, using that gear for commercial gain and the specifics of customs forms, declarations, etc. Any advice from people that have been paid to shoot internationally? Anyone else know of some additional resources?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Can't speak for being paid to shoot internationally but I did got to the BVI on my Honeymoon and brought thousands of dollars of equipment with me.

How much are you planning on bringing? I had everything packed in my carry-on and had no issues, I'm assuming though that you may need a slightly bigger carry-on depending on what you are bringing.

I do recall reading somewhere however, that you need to pay a fee to the airlines if you are bringing photo equipment on to shoot professionally, but can't say that any airline I've used has ever mentioned anything to me when going through security.

BTW: where are you going in the BVI, its beautiful there.

I'll probably put two bodies, 4 lenses, and 3 speedlights in my Pelican hard case. Wedding is at Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda. It has been a while, but I've sailed those islands 5 or 6 times and they are indeed beautiful. I just wasn't a photographer back then...

The only issue I can see if if you are flying into PR then taking a small plane to Tortola they might want you to check your Pelican. I had a standard size carry-on suit case and they made me check it.

I carried one body 5 lenses and a speedlite in my 6MDH, brought that with me on the plane.

We stayed at Little Dix Bay too. You'll love it there.

Oh and just a heads up:

1) There are no TVs in the rooms
2) There are no locks on the doors (strange I know, but they say there is no crime on the island)
