All,

For anyone not too busy, would you mind taking a peek at the series of images and help me determine - as a starting point - which Mark III images looks the sharpest. I've been a bit on the fence with the AF issues and MY hands, so I'd like to eliminate user error as much as possible.

There are 10 images, the first 9 from the Mark III (one from each MF adjust range, increasing by 5, -20 up to +20), last one with the same lens but on the 5D.

About the images:

1) Medium JPG's straight out of camera
2) all with 70-200 2.8 IS
3) IS was off
4) ISO 200
5) 2.8 1/4000
6) Stood in same spot.
7) Body is inthe 503xxx range, was sold to me with Canon saying no AF issues.

To my eyes, the 5d image - the last one - is a bang on sharp image. For the Mark III, #6 seems to be the sharpest, and adjustment of +5.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your time!

I don't think your displays can be used to determine sharpness although you might think that the last one is the sharpest. That will be because it has more pixels and contrast and that gives an impression of sharpness. In fact, if you made it fit the same space it must be at a different resolution to the others. That gives you a false result in your testing.
Why don't you post the same section of a 100% crop. Then you will see edge sharpness.
To do 100% crop, you need to display your image on your screen at its full size and use your photo edit software to select an area and save it. That will be your 100% crop. Now do the same for every MF sample you want to include. Inspect them, and see if your conclusions are the same as before.
