Looks like HP is releasing two new IPS monitors this month starting at $289 for the 21.5'' ZR22w and $425 for the 24'' ZR24w. Didn't see a thread for these so I thought I would add them. The 21.5'' is a 16:9 ratio and the 24'' is a 16:10. Here is a link to the 24"

Thanks,

Very nice - was keeping tabs on screens to replace my aging 24" Samsung TN screen when I finish travelling.

I am looking to replace my 20" TN as well, just not sure what to get as of yet. Been lurking here for some time while I save some cash to get one.

Looks like a decent alternative to waiting for the U2410 to drop price, but some of the specs are kind of iffy.

From what I have learned I have to agree with you basroil. Some of the options that other monitors offer just dont seem to be there. I have also read they are discontinuing the LP2475w and I considered that monitor for some time until I seen how hard it can be to calibrate and that got me to leaning towards a dell.

Or you can go with the 24" dreamcolor... all $2500 of it ;)

I think I have a open space in my camera bag that could be filled before I spent that much on a monitor. Just having an IPS vs. the TN I have is gonna have me jumping up and down with joy!

The LP2475W is hard to calibrate? Any references? I actually found it easier than most, since you can turn the brightness down to a decently low level while retaining good contrast ratio.

From what I have read it is. Of course I almost pulled my hair out getting my TN with limited options even close. I googled calibrating the LP2475W and it seemed that more than not people had problems calibrating. I have to say its nice to know that someone here calibrated it with ease.

Most of the threads you'll find online will be about people having problems. People who did it without a problem wouldn't bother posting. ;)

Anyway, I'm ready to replace my old TN panel! I've been looking at the Dell U2410, but the tinting issue has really put me off so far. The ZR24w looks like it could be good. Obviously, it's not wide gamut... But then again, I shoot in sRGB, so non-WG is probably better for me. Right?

Anyway, I'm waiting to see how the price of this will compare to the U2410. (Though it will certainly be overpriced in the UK.)

Except for my trusty 2209WA, I've decided to avoid Dell monitors. Until they release a high bit internal LUT model with an integrated calibration system like NEC's Spectraview II, Dell is telling the photographic and graphic arts community that they aren't interested in our business.

I think this 24" model could potentially solve some typical "newbie" problems with calibration. HP makes it perfectly clear that this is an sRGB display, not wide gamut. It's got an s-IPS display... Whether that means "better" as compared to the low end e-IPS displays out there is to be seen. If they can deliver this 24" for around $300 US, they should have a good seller and one that I would strongly consider.

It's scheduled to make an appearance at the beginning of April, apparently...

So, do any of the Americans out there have this yet? :D

A few places in the UK are starting to list it, including one place I've had good experiences with before. Prices look reasonable. The few reviews so far have been positive. No sign of colour tinting... yet.

I don't shoot in Adobe RGB, and I don't really think I need to. So, if the QA on this monitor seems better than on the Dell U2410, I'm thinking this could be the one to go for.

Here in the states they have a promo on it right now for $425 on the HP website and a few other retailers are carrying it as well. I am waiting just a bit longer I think.
