What can I cover my camera with so It wont get wet out in the snow. Im thinking about going outside and having my hubby hold an umbrella, but is there anything else I can do, to not mess up camera...?

tx in advance for all your responses...

i was told to tie a plastic bag around all of it except just the lens. ive never actually done it because just like you, im scared to mess up my camera (water damage, condensation). if you do this, let me know how it goes and what pictures you snap!

Search on here for camera rain protection. There are many threads on that and I think the issues are very similar.

Snow won't hurt it, just dry it off when you're done. My 5D has been through many a snowstorm.

agreed.

snow and even normal rain won't affect the camera at all.

Last week while changing lenses, I dropped my 40D body in the snow - face first with no lens attached!

It survived. I wouldn't worry about a few flakes. ;)

As mentioned above a few flakes or rain drops are not going to do anything - it's long periods of time that is the problem. All my lenses/bodies have seen a little bit of rain and snow. Plastic band with rubber bands is an easy and quick solution.

I've had my bodies and lenses out in the rain, snow, bitter hot and bitter cold for extended periods of time. So far they have all been fine. I will use my hand to cover the top when possible to keep it dry or out of the direct sun but that's about it. In the past I've put newspaper delivery bags over longer lenses and secured the ends with rubber bands. Frank showed us that trick at a race track a few years ago.

Jon.
