Prime lens fashion photographers and did they do digital? 2 part question

Did herb ritts, annie, penn, or avedon ever use a straight fixed lens on a lot of there shoots? or more zooms.

And excluding Annie L, did anyone of them convert over to digital before?

I think when digital became a hit like? 2000's or so. Cause all of Herb and Avedon seem like film more so then photoshop.

There was a time..

There was a time.. and not so long ago when zoom lenses for still cameras were absolute crap. Any photographer worth his or her salt would shoot with prime lenses. Many photographers who used 35mm would use multiple bodies but, I cannot ever remember hanging two medium format bodies around my neck nor can I remember seeing any professional photographer with a pair of Hassleblad, Bronica or Pentax medium format cameras hanging from straps. I guess that this was a factor of weight and size.
