My bird IDing is still lacking but I caught this raptor today. Used my recently purchased 1D2N plus a 40yr old Super Takumar 300mm f/4 manual focus lens. Renting a 400 f/5.6L next week to take to Yellowstone. Can't wait to see if I can better these pics. :D

:lol: I think if it wasn't for the 1D2N I might not have done as well. I'm finding it easier to keep up with the BIFs and I just focus on focusing.

Manual focus is not for me, unless I am shooting in my light tent. But birds in flight? No way. :)

Nice shots! I've been working with manual focus only lenses for a few months, but only static subjects. These are awesome. How much time to set up?

Thanks everyone. It gave me a minute or so before it took off so I was able to get a focus on it which helped me to stay with it. It was a lot of fun. I'm gonna go out today to see if I find it again.
