She's a female Malayan tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni). This was actually taken at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

Had to darken the background due to the visibility of the cage behind her, but the results are decent.

Canon XSi, 1/200 f5.6 ISO200 55-250mm IS

I like where you're trying to go with this but honestly, the "darkened background" looks drawn in.

The artificial contrast ratio you've created is too extreme IMO. I'd be less concerned with the background and more so with the stick/log in the camera-right foreground.

Thanks :D, sounds like a plan. I'm quite new to PS. I'll try to see if I can manage to pull some of the foreground out of it.
