People,

This camera will be a gift to a person who likes to have maximum available manual controls in a point and shoot camera. I am a DSLR user and been a while since i looked at PS. I need you help and pretty soon too. Went to a camera store here and the sales person suggested S90 or G11; can some one tell which one is better or is there anything else to be considered. Would like to have to PS compact looking too.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers.

For me, it pretty much came down to the f/2 lens on the S90. The G11 has much better battery life and better ergonomics, but the f/2.8 lens was the deal-killer for me.

+1

For ME, the choice also came down to size. This was to be my "pocket" camera that I can easily bring anywhere. The S90 is much more pocketable than the G11.

I got both, and it came down to size and f2.0...

The swivel screen of the g11 is nice to have but because the video capture mode is non-hd, didn't find it that much more useful.

For me, I would think that this criteria means going with the G11. I especially like the EV knob and ISO knob. The positive click feeling of them beats out the free-wheeling jog wheel of the S90.

I don't have the G11, but I have handled one in the store, and I agree that the control knobs are far better than that mess on the S90. However, I bought the S90 for it's size, and have no regrets. As for BIG cameras, I already have too many of them as it is.
