The carrier looks like a static display/museum since there are several out-of-service aircraft on board.

Nice shot!

Thanks!

We have got 2 of them Jack. At least we did at the last count? Shame about the aircraft on them, but there are some of ours too

When we lived in Kobe, Japan from 1958-1960, we would have US Navy ships visit on a regular basis, the Yorktown being one of them.

I was in the 4th/5th grade at the time and we always visited the ships when they arrived. I remember the Yorktown and I have pictures of our tour on board somewhere.

Yup. And the destroyer in the background is the USS Laffey, DD 724 (the “4” is obscured by the sailboat in the foreground.

Blimey Ray. There ain't many wind driven boats around that ain't got no sails mate! -? And it looks like a week on that must be the equivalent of 'get me out of here, I'm stupid' competition

Not that I don't like floating blocks of flats mind you

That is the latest innovation, John. When the wind blows the oil fuelled engines cut off and the electric generators take over. Quite efficient they tell me. Mind you, some people would have you believe anything. :-)
