I made that trip a few times when I was stationed at Chester. But I don’t think the ferry was painted as brightly as that.

I've never been on the ferry, but I have been through the tunnel a few time and most of those were unintentional  Make a wrong move and get on the tunnel approach and you'r committed!

To me the feerry is very colourful and looks a bit like an accident in a paint factory, but at least nobody would notice if you got sea sick 8-)

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

Ha! Ha! I've lost count of the number of times I have been confused by the many road signs or stuck in a lane there is no escape from - I guess you have picked up the wrong split on a motorway just as I have many times and burnt up a few gallons of juice and wasted time.
A typical motorway wrong lane here could cost about a 30 - 50 mile round trip and associated time. I have often been stopped and asked how to get in the correct direction/route - If it's difficult to explain - and not too far - I usually tell them to follow me until I get them on the right route - I have often appreciated similar help myself. I was asked by a lady at a services on the North side of Manchester where Stanstead airport was - she had picked up the M1 instead of the M11 and kept going. That put 400 additional miles on her clock. Oh well.-?
