Tim, that is going to be a beautiful boat mate and it's lovely to see traditional building still being done!

Nice one, Tim. Did it come as a kit of parts on a lorry?

Really is a beautiful thing to see in this modern day.
Curious what timber is used
That bottom chunk looks like Oregon pine, Douglas Fir, as we know it here

Not a kit and at 132 feet in length, it might take more than one lorry. :-D

These images go back at least 5 years. It is a 7 year, $6million USD project built by sailing educational foundation. It was launched in 2018 and certified by the Coast Guard in 2020.

I'll post more in a few days.

Some WIP photos would be lovely? Any chance Tim?

So much nicer and probably a hell of a lot stronger than a plastic tub 8-) It's good to know that craftmanship is still around and I hope that they are training apprentices?

HMS Victory. Portsmouth a few years ago.
A few oak trees bit the dust to make this one.
The keel of HMS Victory was laid down in Chatham on 23rd July 1759.
Using approximately 6,000 trees 90 per cent of which were oaks
probably from the Forest of Dean
I showed them my Trafalgar medal and got in free.:-)

Awesome.
They certainly were works of love, or probably worse in reality.
Good to see these still about.
Love the keep out sign. Has some serious backup there if not heeded :p

Ray what did you get into for free when you showed your medal? The Old Bailey? :p

Thanks Richard - hope you enjoy browsing through the links. Apparently we (meaning us ancient Brits) had to source some of the timbers from OZ.

The reward for my medal - eer! Well! The bloke on the bench recognised me as master 'Bull Shooter' (or similar expression) and let me off with a caution and two hours community service on the Victory explaining what the 1805 battle was really like to the Aussie visitors. Trouble with the Aussies, they didn't believe a word of what I was telling 'em.:-(

There's a major restoration project going on with HMS Victory at the moment. The top masts have been removed temporarily to relieve the weight on the hull which is sagging. A new cradle has been built to support the ship which more replicates the effect of it being in water. It has also been repainted in more authentic colours which although it may be how she was painted at The Battle of Trafalgar it is not as striking as the colours that we had all got used to! A lot of work still to be done to repair and stabilise the ship so that it lasts for at least another two hundred years!
